Energy Master

 The Energy Master is a consumption driven computer program which simulates and specifies alternative energy systems. The Energy Master allows us to simulate the actual operation of an alternative energy system before the actual hardware is purchased. It assures that all hardware is properly sized and the most cost effective solution to a particular energy requirement. It is unique, and saves disappointment as well as money.

 The program takes user input in the form of appliances and their data, and determines all the equipment necessary to supply these appliances. This program is based on our over 40 man-years of actual experience in alternative energy systems.

 The first page lists the appliances to be powered through the inverter. The column headed "P?" indicates priority appliances. These appliances are operable from the inverter at any time, regardless of what else is powered up in the system at the time. The second page (if applicable) of the consumption estimate details DC power usage from the system; i.e. electrical consumption not through the inverter. These two pages make up the energy consumption estimate.

 The control panel is used for running the program and contains the essential information for specification. Note that the control panel estimates all costs, including operating costs, generator operating time, and provides a bottom line figure in dollars per kilowatt-hours The actual number of days of battery storage and the average days of battery storage are included. In motor only systems these are the same. If photovoltaics are added to the system then the batteries go longer periods between motorized rechargings. These estimates are realistic, down to the last sparkplug and oil change.

 The bill is just that, a financial estimate of the initial hardware cost. All costs are broken down as percentages of the total cost. Operating cost estimates are on the Control Panel.

 The system operating information is abased on a fuel cost of $3.90 (US) per US gallon. Power cost and all equipment are amortized over a ten year period for lead acid batteries and twenty years for Nicad battery systems.
